yesterday was quite a busy one!! enjoyed a half day of work, couple of hours of the cubbies spring training game with Dan and his family (Amy's birthday wish, Sherry, Tony and Conrad Poer) and Dan and I attended Mr Henry & Mrs Emily Collins wedding :)
the wedding was at the Phoenix Zoo in Phoenix AZ. it was a beautiful, family, friends and love filled ceremony near sunset in the "savanna". with Em's sister Jessi as the officiant we enjoyed a short ceremony filled with warmth and love. instead of the traditional unity candle/ sand pouring, em and Henry gave each other's mothers single roses with ribbons tied as the signature color of the event: green and brown. once announced Mr and Mrs Henry Collins they walked down the aisle together to: "somewhere over the rainbow" covered by: Israel Kamakawiwo'ole- a gorgeous version of the song using a Hawaiian sound and ukulele. at the end the did a little dance step and circled back around for another romantic kiss.
we were then ushered to another location of the zoo by the Spider Monkeys :) and were greeted by a staff member holding a desert lizard and another staff member holding a grey horned hoot owl named Annie, one of the oldest "show" animals of the park for over 12 years. we had entered the "forest of uco" to enjoy the wedding reception to follow. a delicious feast of mexican food was served, great music, wonderful family and friends and you are reading from a VERY HAPPY recipient of the bouquet toss!! i most CERTAINLY went for those flowers! ;) Dan was extremely "enthusiastic" about my victory...... just kidding. but it was ok! i was excited! we left the event after a long day, bringing with us the brilliant take aways- pieces of mexican tile with rubber stoppers glued to the bottom as coasters, signed Emily & Henry Collins and our centerpiece: the circle of friends- which this week i was really fortunate to enjoy a great deal of.
thank you everyone, for such a wonderful beginning to the weekend!
